Airline

There is a small airport in southern Chengde where occasional charter flights shuttle between Beijing and Chengde. Chengde is 180 kilometers away from the Beijing Capital International Airport. To travel by air, visitors can take a coach to Beijing and connect with their flights from there. A coach departs for Beijing every twenty minutes, making it very convenient.

Railway

The railway station is situated on Wulie Road in southeast Chengde. Three rail lines converge here: Beijing-Chengde railway, Jinzhou-Chengde railway and Chengde-Long railway.

There are ten passenger trains to Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Shenyang, Jinzhou, Dandong, Tongliao and Wulanhaote daily. Up to 1.7 million passengers use the rails per year.

Chengde railway station has linked with several big railway stations in Beijing to sell tickets. Tourists can get train tickets in Chengde and use them to take trains from Beijing to destinations all over China. Special express trains are available to serve some scenic spots along the way from Beijing to Chengde. These trains are convenient and speedy. 

Public Bus

The city area of Chengde is quite small. It is served by a convenient bus system with more than ten bus lines. Many buses are self-service and charge one RMB per ride. The money is deposited into a box located in the front of each bus. Other mini-buses charge no more than 5 RMB to the destination.

Highway

Chengde has a good network of roads such as the Beijing-Chengde road, Chengde-Wei road, national road lines 101, 111 and 112, and Chengde-Piao road. It has three national highways linking Chengde and Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia.

There are long distance coaches departing for provinces and cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and Zhangjiakou daily. In the west and north stations of Chengde, buses depart for every county and district in the city at regular intervals.

Taxi

There are numerous taxies in the city area. The charge is 5 RMB for the first 2 kilometers, then 1.40 RMB for each additional kilometer. Generally speaking, the charge for a taxi will be no more than 10 RMB within the city district
