April 2009 - first trip to China

The people, the culture. Very different to Australia. Transport, traffic, shopping, language of course..

Not to be MissedNot to be Missed when in Changsha:

To be advised. Planning a tour of Zhangjiajie National Park for up to 4 days, 400 km west of Changsha. I'm told by everyone that it's beautiful China Highlights is preparing details and a quote for my tour. Wanted to go to Fenghuan where i can glimpse part of the Great Wall, but money limitations have forced me to forgo that for a later trip to China. 

Hints for Future TravelersHints for Future Travelers:

Don't get run over if you are used to looking left when you leave the kerb. Make sure you have plenty of travellers cheques or can get a local credit card. Most places will not accept Australian Visa or MasterCard. Hopefully this will change. Also US Visa Travel Card was not accepted where i have been. Had to use it to withdraw at ATMs. Had to get two cash advances on Visa, involving unnecessary fees (min $AU35 each time). Had to select 2008 on this page for the year of my tour. Obviously it is 2009. Wonder why 2009 is missing from the Year list.
