We were so sorry not to be able to meet you in Guilin, but had a very nice time in your city. The only unfortunate thing was that both Maureen and Michelle became ill for one evening as a result of something they ate on the Li River Cruise. But they were ok the next day, so it didn't last long enough to interfere with our tour. I can't thank you enough for all of your help--both in the planning and throughout our tour. And I am so glad we didn't do the Yangtze River cruise after all because Chengdu was by far our favorite stop! And while all of the guides were good, our guide Michelle in Chengdu was a true highlight for us. As you know, we had a very bad experience at the initial hotel in Xian. After staying in all of the other hotels in each city, I wanted to let you know that, even without the smoke, the Goldentang Hotel was greatly inferior to the others we visited. I recommend that it be dropped from your list. Also, the restaurant where we had lunch the first day in Beijing was the worst restaurant we visited in China. The food was bland and the meat of bad quality. We suggest that you not send people there. Otherwise, everything was great, and we will be sure to recommend China Highlights to everyone we know!
