Spring has arrived and so has our fresh new web site. The new design not only users the newest technology but is more user-friendly. We have added many useful features like the option to increase the text size so that it is easier to read and the ability to send an interesting page to your friends or family. The trip planner for lets you find tours, cruises or hotels easily from nearly every page in the China Highlights web site.
“My China Highlights” is another new innovation which allows visitors to permanently save the tours or pages of interest for later viewing or to send to someone else by email. We are also providing more China related information in our China Guide and increasing the quality and value on all of tours in the China Tours and Single City Tours Section. China Highlights Community - Top -
Our new China Highlights Community brings together the experiences of many travelers and China-visitors . We use the power of people to bring you a better picture of China and what awaits you when traveling here. You can also use your own knowledge to help answer other people’s questions. The community consists of a Photo Section where you can create Photo Albums and share photos, a Travelogue where trip experiences can be published, a Forum for questions or general discussions and a Travel Buddy page where you can join other peoples groups or create your own group for interested people to participate in. The Member Center gives you options to receive newsletters and customize your account as well as a convenient overview of your inquiry or booking status .
China Modernizes its Train System - Top -
On 18th April China raised the speed limit on some parts of its Railway system to 250 km/h. It is the 5th time that the speed limit has been raised since 1997 and makes travel especially between the capital Beijing and the big costal cities, fast and convenient.
The Ministry of Railways will put 514 bullet trains on trunk lines this year. The first batch of 280 will come on line this week while others will be introduced on July 1 and October 1. Routes using bullet-head trains will be marked with the letter “D” to identify them from other types of rail services.
All bullet trains are equipped with soft seats but no sleepers. The total mileage of high speed railways, (trains traveling at the speed of 200 km per hour and above) will be 6,003 kilometers. 846 kilometers of which will be served by trains running at the speed of 250 km per hour. Improvements are being be made on the tracks that allow speeds of 120km/h and this coverage will be increased from 16,000 km to 22,000 km.
