Tibet was reopened to foreigners on June 25th, 2008. Many foreign tourists are now planning to revive their plans to travel to Tibet. At present, tourists are most concerned about what they should prepare to get a Travel Permit to enter Tibet.

Things to know before travelling to Tibet? - Top -
1) The only way to enter Tibet is by travelling in a group. Your whole tour must be accompanied by a licensed tour guide. The minimum number of members in the group is at the moment, but it may be changed to 3 or 4 in the near future. (Source: Tibet Travel Bureau.)
2) All members in the group should belong to the same nationality/ have a passport issued by the same country.
3) You need to book a tour at least 15 days in advance. You need to book your hotel in advance and apply for your Tibet Travel Permit in advance. The two things may take you up to 10 days or even longer so it would be wise to leave enough time before travelling.

How to get a Tibet Travel Permit? - Top -
Customers whose travel arrangements are made by China Highlights will receive their Tibet Entry permit from our local office in the city where they depart for Tibet e.g. Chengdu if by air, Golmud if by Qinghai-Tibet Highway. You are required to present this document when boarding the flight to Tibet. China Highlight will make all necessary arrangements to obtain the correct documentation for you if you book a tour with us.
