Great experience immersing in Tibetan culture
We did a 7 day tour of Tibet with China Highlights. The guide was Phurbu. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. We are repeat customers of this travel agency because they deliver a high quality tour with enormous flexibility. From the beginning they helped us getting the necessary permits. The quality of the sites we visited was amazing and we always had ample time to enjoy. We had a major setback as the government closed the access to the Everest area so our tour had to be rerouted. We were initially disappointed but we ended up visiting lake Namso and that was incredible. The agency offered a dinner in compensation even as it wasn’t their fault Phurbu introduced us patiently to his culture and to the Tibetan gastronomy. We had lunch and breakfast in around 10 typical places and the quality was always good. more

Meet your personal guide at Congjiang train station. Drive to Zhaoxing Dong Village (about 10 minutes).
Explore beautiful Zhaoxing Village in the afternoon. Your guide will walk around with you, explaining the style of the Dong wooden buildings, local customs, and the Dong people's lifestyle. Try a popular local snack: oil tea and sticky rice cakes with roast pork.
The Dong people's dancing and singing evening show is very enjoyable.
Drive to Huanggang Dong Village in the morning. On the way, you will stop to hike around the terraced fields. Enjoy great views of the rice terraces and the villages on the mountain slopes.
Explore peaceful Huanggang Village and Zhanli Village, where you will see more of the authentic culture of the Dong. People still live their traditional lives there, which have not been touched by tourism and commerce. The drum towers of Zhanli Village are more colorful than those in more popular spots. Let your guide tell the story of a mysterious local herbal medicine for controlling the gender of babies.
Visit Biasha Miao village in the afternoon. Enjoy their traditional dancing and their ceremony with guns.
